City of the sail
charming place rich of history and valuable
cultural places. Here is possible to visit the
"Torre di Ligny" with a wonderful view of the
city and the Egadi Islands. Not far from there is
the "Colombaia" or sea Castle one of
the City's symbols. The local culinary offers a
wide range of typical dishes, from "Cous-Cous"
of arabic origin to the "Busiate" fresh hand
made pasta with "Trapanese" pesto sauce. The
"Bottarga", The "Ragł di Tonno", the
ice cream and the jasmine "Granitas" all
marvellous and tasty typical foods. In many
shops is still pratictied the art of coral
hand-crafting. Other specialities are the wines,
the oranges, the olive oil and the garlic. |
Every
year for Easter the Hoply week festivities
take place in all the neighboring towns with
the suggestive religious processions of the
"Misteri" along the towns center streets.

From
Trapani to Marsala has also to be mentionned
the making of marine salt which is produced
in the "Saline" and the refined in the local
factories.

Suggestive
for its town center, "Porta Garibaldi", the fish

Cecilia's auditorium", the "Civic and the
Archeological Museum" and the "Punic Ship". All
these places have testified the ancients wars
between Romans and Carthaginians. |

"Stagnone" lagoon is today a protected Natural
Reserve with its small island of "Mothia", that
also testified the passage of the Romans and the
Carthaginians. Not to be missed the Whitaker
Museum. |

Erice |
Is a mountain (750mt a.s.l.) with a
triangular shape. Full of mith and
history here the architecture melts
with nature, flowing in the typical
stone roads along its town. Not to
be missed is the "Venere Castle", the
"Matrice" church, the "San Domenico"
church, the agro-forestry museum and
the "Martogna" natural reserve.

Erice is also home of the
prestigious "International
Scientific Center "Ettore Maiorana".

Also, not to be missed a visit to
the local shops with their typical
handcrafted ceramics and carpets and
their tasty cakes and almonds sweets.

oasi for crystal blue sea and white
sanded beaches lover's. Here you can
spend your time excursionning, hiking or
just relax in the barbeque equipped
areas. Divers can enjoy the breathtaking
views of the many submarine caves and
the colorful sea-beds. Bird-watching is
also an option. In the museum of the
Marine and Farming activities you just
need to close your eyes to revive those
ancient times. You'll also be admiring
the beautiful handcrafted ceramics.. |

Isole
Egadi |

Favignana is the most known among
the Egadi Islands for its splendid sea
and its small hidden bays such as "Cala
Rossa and Cala Azzurra", and also for
the "Santa Caterina Castle" where every
year takes places the "Mattanza" an
ancient method of tuna fishing that hasn't
been changed over the centuries.. |

Levanzo Egadi's smaller island has
become famous for the "Grotta del
Genovese" where there traces of ancient
populations. |
|
Marettimo last but not least is the
farthest islands with its marine caves
and its ancient tower once being used
from the arabs as a spotting towers. |
